Sword 7, 5043    

 

We need to reveal the glyph – it is our 3rd task.  We did them in backwards order. We fly up as high as we can to try to get a sense of the glyph.

 

We see a beaver dam and to talk with them.  They understand common, but do not speak it.  Valanthe translates.  They are willing to help, but think the woodchucks (veryformal) and the raccoons, who speak through sign language, would be more help.  They send messengers to the other animals and we wait a couple of days for them to arrive.  The groundhogs do lots of bowing.

We offer to help them in any way we can while we wait.

We begin to move back upstream into the woods with the beavers, woodchucks, and raccoons.

We make camp and prepare to wait for the guardians to appear.

The next day we continue on.  At midday two guardians make themselves known to us. 

One of the guardians lays flat int eh shape of the forest and shows glyph.  Guardians show where repairs are needed.  They send out animal repair teams to do the work.  We offer to protect them or aid in any way we can.  They send six raccoons to go with us to wait.

 

Sword 11, 5043

 

Halfway through the morning the raccoons become excited – somewhere there are monsters throwing rocks.  They would like us to fight the monsters and we agree.  Beari casts Mass Fly and we take off  with the raccoons.

 

One of the raccoons, whom we name Rocky, absolutely loves flying – the other five tolerate it.

 

We think they are under attack by cauldron born stone giants.  We have fought them before.  There are two of them – most likely they are the ones Ben turned before.

 

We get closer and the raccoons back away.

Our Plan:

            Ben casts Recitation: +2 to everything;

            Beari casts Sunburst with Max Rod

            Zora and Arden use Rods of Negation.

Beari casts Maximized Fireball and kills both.

 

Beari finds a healing potion on Arden, feeds to Ben.  Ben recovers and casts Mass Heal on all.

We respectfully lay out the woodchucks’ bodies.  Wait for the raccoons to return and try to figure out anything about the glyph we can.

 

Beari casts Detect Magic looking for the glyph – feels magic under the ground.

 

Ben and Zora go back to find the raccoons.

 

Beari on guard while Arden digs / searches the area.  We find where we fought the Cauldron Born Stone Giants the first time.  Bodies are gone.  Where did they go?

 

Ben finds Raccoons. Brings them back to the clearing.

 

Zora uses dagger to cut off tattoos on Gs’ cheeks.

 

We fly back to our central location, stay overnight, send a message if any woodchucks need healing they can come to us.

Ben heals three hurt woodchucks.

We wait to see what happens next.

 

Sword 12, 5043

 

A horrible monster is eating beavers.  They need help!  Might be a Rhinoctoshark?  Definitely an angry beaver eater anyway.

 

Ben casts Water Breathing on us (9.5 hours)

Arden uses beaver parts to attract R on search pattern. 

Spotted! 21 feet deep

Beari starts dropping rocks on it.

Arden uses grappling hook to fish for the R; fixes Immovable Rod

R pulls rope, Zora releases, Arden catches and goes under

R uses tentacles to try and grapple Arden, fails

Animal helpers cannot move the weight of rocks, etc., on top of a section of the glyph; ask our help.  Summon an Earth Elemental and a Djinn to move the largest rocks, and pitch in ourselves.  Four hours later, rocks moved enough that our help is no longer needed.

Glyph is restored.  Much bowing to and from Woodchucks.
