Go up stairs past 3' pedestals with Stone Spike statues on them.  1st landing.  second stairs turn west, more statues: Susurrus - undead killers.  Kes tries to disbelieve, fails.  

Explore side walkway, go past more statues, Bonespurs - minor undead.  Walkway is long-U shaped, ends in steamcloud too dense to see more than 5' through.  Much discussion and poking.  Ben and Fuori have ropes tied to them, walk forward, find metal box, hot, with grating pouring steam out.  [Appropriate sound effect provided by teapot in kitchen.]  Ulfgar comes in also, pokes around, all leave.

Ben and Kes go to the south end of the main walkway, foot of ladder, look up, come back.  Next stairs go east, landing, west to next level.  eastward stairs have statues of Quaraphon Bullys (like Zora fought in the 'individual' rooms); westward stairs have statues of Feral Yowlers, look like large cats with prominent backbones.

At other end of this walkway is, first, the top of the ladder that Kes and Ben looked at from below; and, second, the foot of more stairs going east.  Statues on these stairs are of Rampagers - CE, claws excude acid, attacks metal.  Beri notes that the statues are getting progressively more evil in what they depict.  Ar'tes checks for traps on these stairs, none.  From top of stairs is a walkway to the top of the central spire (the one with the phantom staircase around it), and also the entranceway into an actual room: no dust, no murals, lit by indirect light coming in from main atrium.  Ar'tes checks for traps on doorway: none.  Ulfgar and Ar'tes go into room, start checking walls for secret doors.  Fuori and Jenna go to opposite corner from Ulfgar and Ar'tes, Kes moves to middle of room, Zora and Ben stay near entrance, Beri stays at entrance and watches outside room.

0.  Rampager "statues" come off pedastels and charge into room, Beri shouts warning and retreats to far side.

1.  Ar'tes tumbles to R-1, hits for 23; Zora hits R-3 for 19, 98 (crit), 22; Ulfgar charges R-2 for 25; Ben casts Blade Barrier across doorway -- R-3 avoids into room, R-4 is caught for 33; Beri casts Lesser Electronic Orb on R-2 for 19; Kes tumbles away from the one on her, starts to sing Inspire Courage, shoots at R-3 but misses; Fuori hits R-1 for 18 (crit), Ar'tes takes Opportunist on R-1 for 33; R-1 claws Fuori for 22; R-2 claws Ulfgar for 10, bites for 9; R-3 claws Kes for 12; R-4 stays in Blade Barrier, takes 38, claws Ben for 7; Jenna casts Resist Elements::Acid on herself.

2.  Ar'tes hits R-1 for 49 (crit), 34 (crit); Zora hits R-3 for 137 (crit), 31, kills, 5' step hits R-4 for 27; Ulfgar hits R-2 for 31, 29; Ben hits R-4 for 6, backs away; Beri casts Magic Missile on R-2 for 17, kills; Kes's Inspire Courage takes effect, shoots R-4 for 9; Fuori hits R-1 for 20 (crit), Ar'tes takes Opportunist on R-1 for 44, kills; R-4 takes 38 from Blade Barrier as it moves into room, claws Zora for 14, bites for 4; Jenna moves towards wounded.

Healing on Fuori (down 28), Zora (down 30), and Ulfgar (down 19) - mostly spells as wands running low.

Alchemy check:
Each claw can be made into a polish for a suit of armor (or six shields) which protects against acid or rust for one month -- eight claws.  
Each poison sac can be made into a potion of Restore Strength 1d4 -- eight sacs
No other treasure.

Ar'tes resumes search: no secret doors, hidden compartments.

Head out of room and over to top of spire.  Slightly down that from-the-west walkway:

0.  Ulfgar fails Will save, suffers Infirmity of Mind (=Confused) -- no one notices.

1.  Fuori fails Fortitude save, suffers Infirmity of Body (-6 to Strength, Dexterity, Constitution); Kes reserves for noticing anything; Ulfgar stops and stands still; Kes asks, "Ulfgar, what's wrong?" no response, "Hey!" says Kes to call everyone's attention to this; Ben moves up and casts Protection from Evil on Zora, says, "Jenna, I just cast Protection from Evil, do it too"; Ar'tes reserves for an enemy; Zora reserves; Beri reserves; Jenna casts Protection from Evil on herself; Fuori casts Protection from Evil on Ar'tes, announces, "I feel really horrible and weak".

2.  X does something -- no visible effect -- hear singing from the far side of the spire, see humanoid just inside  the doorway of the room to the northeast -- Kes identifies it as being Inspire Greatness; Kes starts singing Countersong; Ulfgar activates boots, flies / charges humanoid for 70 (crit); Ben casts Bless on all of party (except Ulfgar); Ar'tes shoots but misses; Zora runs as far as the spire; Beri moves towards spire, recognizes humanoid as Ruin Chanter: can fly and summon Elementals, corrode metal, confuse people, cause poison and disease; Jenna moves towards spire and casts Flame Strike for 18 Holy, 27 Flame; Fuori moves towards spire.

3.  RC hits Ulfgar for 19 (crit), tumbles to back wall of room; Ruin Elementals come at Ulfgar from the sides, hit Ulfgar for 57 total; Kes moves closer; Ulfgar charges RC -- RE-1 AoO for 22 -- hits for 71 (crit); Ben moves closer; Ar'tes moves closer; Zora moves closer; Beri moves closer and casts Ice Burst on RE-1 and RE-2 for 36; Jenna moves as fast as she can, saying, "Get me to Ulfgar"; Fuori moves closer.

4.  RC tumbles away from Ulfgar, sings Fascinate at Ulfgar; RE-1 and RE-2 come up to Zora but recoil; Kes moves closer; Ulfgar, fascinated, does nothing; Ben moves closer and casts Dismissal on RE-1, it vanishes; Ar'tes moves into room; Zora tells Furoi, "Get back, I won't be stopping it", moves past RE-2, charges RC, misses; Beri moves closer, casts Lightning Bolt on RE-2 for 29; Jenna moves closer and casts Dismissal on RE-2, fails; Fuori moves back as directed, casts Electric Orb on RE-2 for 30.

5.  RC tumbles away from Zora and flies up to ceiling (30'); RE-2 moves to Beri, hits for 25; Kes running jumps to bannister, then across to walkway behind RE-2; Ulfgar wanders off; Ben moves up to RE-2 and casts Stone Shape to fuze a knee -- RE-2 will now move at half speed; Ar'tes shoots at RC, misses; Zora charges RE-2 from behind for 40; Beri casts Fire Orb on RE-2 for 38; Jenna casts Etheral Jaunt on Beri so she can get past RE-2; Fuori casts Magic Missile on RE-2 for 16.

6.  RC flies out of room (double move); RE-2 hits Zora for 31; Kes uses a wand to cast Fireball at RC but it fizzles; Ulfgar wanders; Ben casts Flame Strike on RC but it fizzles; Ar'tes shoots RE-2 for 2; Zora hits RE-2 for 33, 31, kills; Beri  reserves for Jenna; Jenna dismisses Etheral Jaunt, casts Blade Barrier on RC but it fizzles; Beri moves to Zora, casts Fly; Fuori casts Magic Missile on RC for 17.

7.  RC casts Despair on all but Ulfgar and Ar'tes, only Fuori fails -- -2 all rolls, flies further away; Kes casts Summon Monster IV for a Giant Eagle, which misses; Ulfgar wanders; Ben shoots but misses; Ar'tes shoots for 2; Zora charges for 120 (crit), kills, RC's body plummets to main floor.

Ulfgar attacks Ar'tes for 8; Ar'tes tumbles away, Kes sings Fascinate at Ulfgar; after several attacks Ulfgar has a moment of clarity, drops all weapons, puts his manacles on.  One hour later, he comes out of it, and Fuori regains her stats.

During the hour, Ben heals Ulfgar, cures Ar'tes; Jenna cures Zora, Beri.  Ar'tes checks out the room and declares there are no secret doors.  We decide to spend the night here and regain spell slots.

We investigate the level.  We satisfy our curiosity about the spiders from before.  We discover a ladder that appears to go nowhere.  Ar'tas finds no traps on ladder.  Climbs to top and discovers  nothing but then realizes he's an elf and finds a secret door.  It's not trapped so he opens it.  It looks familiar.  We close the door and go down.  Continue exploration, which requires going back to the ground floor first.  We go up the south stairs, and then west from the landing.  Whice checking the walls of a large room, Rot Reavers suddenly un-"cloak" and attack with cleavers and tongues.

6.  Kes moves, shoots Z-5 for 7; Fuori checks behind us; Zora hits Z-5 for 42, 35, 56, kills; Beri's Flaming Sphere burns Z-2, Z-3 for 5; Jenna dusts Z-2; Z-7 hits Ben for 11; Z-8 misses Ulfgar; Ben Turns Z-7, Z-8.  We finish off cowering Zombies at our leisure.
